A Christmas Carol

By G.K. Chesterton

(& copied from a post by Eric
@
Chesterton and Friends.)

The Christ-child lay on Mary’s lap,
His hair was like a light.
(O weary, weary were the world,
But here is all aright.)

The Christ-child lay on Mary’s breast,
His hair was like a star.
(O stern and cunning are the kings,
But here the true hearts are.)

The Christ-child lay on Mary’s heart,
His hair was like a fire.
(O weary, weary is the world,
But here the world’s desire.)

The Christ-child stood on Mary’s knee,
His hair was like a crown,
And all the flowers looked up at Him,
And all the stars looked down.

Lest we forget...

“The message of the cross
is foolishness to those who are
perishing, but to us who are
being saved it is the power of
God." (1 Corinthians 1:23,24)

First Sunday of Advent

Liturgy of the Hours: Week I of the Psalter

We do not know when "the Son of Man' will
come again or how God's kingdom will be
established--whether peaceably (Isaiah)
or by destruction (gospel). Yet the readings
and Advent call us to look forward to the
future with hope and expectation. Why?
Because Christ's Second Coming will bring
to completion God's work of salvation.
This hope undergirds our efforts in daily
life to "conduct ourselves properly" and to
"put on the Lord Jesus Christ" (second reading).

Check out the reverse...

of the Lincoln penny, &
you will see the work of
the 10th Chief Engraver
of the United States,
Frank Gasparro- (8/26/09-
9/29/01)

Mr. Gasparro, whose initials
can be seen at the bottom
right corner of the Lincoln
Memorial (see above,) also
designed the obverse &
reverse of the Eisenhower
Dollar, the Susan B. Anthony
Dollar, & the reverse of the
Kennedy Half Dollar. He is
the most copied artist ever,
due to the Lincoln cent.

He worked for the U.S. Mint
as Chief Engraver/Sculptor
from 1965 to 1981...

& was every bit as kind as he
was professional.
