Happy Birthday, Gerard Butler!

From one of your many Phantom phans! :D

Having only been recently introduced to the

character of Erik (the Phantom), I found it
to be an extraordinary story that shook me
to my roots. I'd of course heard of the
1925 silent movie starring the great Lon
Chaney as The Phantom of the Opera, based
on the 1910 Gaston Leroux novel, Le Fantôme
de l'Opéra. The story that struck me, however,
was the 2004 version starring Gerard Butler,
Emmy Rossum, Patrick Wilson, Jennifer
Ellison, & Miranda Richardson - directed by
Joel Schumacher, with an outstanding score
with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and
lyrics by Charles Hart.

I like musicals when they are well done.
IMO, this had everything I look for in a tale
well told, & then some.

It's a favorite flick of both of my sons. And me, too.

Hi Saint Nick! :D

Well, it was the first time I'd actually seen one of the many versions that are out there, & I've
since read the original tale by Leroux. Since this movie was based on the musical, it already had a strong phan following - now me included! Saw similarities to Heathcliff, Rhett, & even Jack the Pumpkin King ala Danny Elfman in Gerard Butler's Erik (musically - & that's a good thing IMO:)
& have become familiar with other phabulous Phantoms as well - among them Michael Crawford & Dale Tracy (who played Raoul & later Erik onstage in Hamburg, Germany, for many years).
