Gene Stratton-Porter

Dear Email Friend,

Enjoy the tale of 'Ter-

ence Maxwell O'More'
& his darlin' Angel:)

From what I remember
from high school, after
reading a bit about her
life, Gene Stratton-Porter
based the character of
the 'Bird Woman' on her-
self. 'A Girl of the Limber-
lost' was the sequel to
'Freckles,' although after
Gene died in a car accident,
I believe in 1921, her

daughter Jeannette wrote,
'Freckles Comes Home.'

I had actually read FCH

before its prequels- the
character of Freckles had
an entirely different per-
sonality in this last book-
he was bitter and nasty-
and although it was an

interesting tale, it was a
bit disjointed from the
other two stories.

There is, or was, a
Limberlost
Timber Company from what
I understand- and a site that
has been dedicated to Gene
Stratton-Porter, which I will
try to link to...

Please let me know when
you're done with the story!

I Love Thee, Madame!

A lovely work depict-
ing one of our Lady's
appearances to Saint
Bernadette at Lourdes.

One of the
magnificent works
by silhouette artist
Dan Paulos, available
at Trinity Stores.

For those of you who
stop by regularly, if my
postings seem familiar
to you, it's because I will
occasionally repost the
wonderful works of
others that serve as re-
minders of Christ's love
for us. This is basically
what this blog is all about-
I pray for His sake that
those that stop by, if they
don't give thanks to God
and pray regularly, will
do so.

Thank you for reading
this far:)

God bless you!

Answer to an atheist friend...

It was Father Benedict
Groeshel who had said

that even if you don't
believe that God exists,
don't hesitate to pray
to Him if you need to.

**The Three Ys Men

Not ***'Yippie, Yappie or Yahoo-ie';
Such a tale might invite too much
("W)hooey(?").
They are 'Yore, Yo! & Yet',
And I'm willing to bet
At least one of them 'knows' C.S. Louie!

*The book, not the verse.

**Available at Amazon.

***From a '60's cartoon:)

(& may I say the
book's winging its way,
this way, today...
Hip, hip, hooray!)

The Blog of the American
Chesterton Society...

*Geez, could you guys
NARROW IT DOWN a
little?

The basics would
be nice- ONE 'Official

suffice...

*(Said with a
GREAT DEAL of affection,
& a little-more-than a modi-
cum of mild confusion:)

:)! ! !

Well, am back from
the conference/school
event...

It was wonderful- I
actually got to speak
with a couple of my
heroes!

(Hint: One of them is
mine & my mom's favor-
ite biographer, who most
kindly signed a book for
her:)

The other gentleman not
only really nice, but very
funny!

Met others of all ages- a lot
of young people- all friendly
and helpful- plus I got to
pester the host in the hallway,
which was a lot of fun, poor
guy!

Understandably, not every-
one that will attend the June
conference could make it-
but this was still an amazing
event!

The cell phone rang at the
wrong times- but I did tell
'Better-half' to call if he had
to. He assisted with school
events- and had a great
time, too!

A most blessed time for
us all!

HAPPY EASTER!

& Happy Birthday:)

Sunday, April 09, 2006

(another rose:)

An Easter Poem

A gift for us from Barbara
Malley, who kindly granted
me permission to post the
poetry of her mother, an
award-winning poet. I have
posted before that the poem,
"The Laughing Willow," is one
of my favorites from childhood.
It will be found in a new book
for children that Ms. Malley is
working on called, "Read Me a
Rhyme," which will be available
later this year.

What follows is a poem about
another tree, a new 'old favor-
ite'...

And so touchingly beautiful, I
believe even the happy willow
would finally weep...
