@
Chesterton and Friends
on the Chesterton-Shaw
Debates...
I have a soft spot in my
heart (or is it my head?)
for curmudgeons. It looks
like Mr. George Bernard
Shaw might easily fall into
that category- (or at least
under my understanding
of that word's definition).
I didn't link to the specific
post, as there may be more
to come later today-
So stay tuned:)

I responded to your comment over on my blog, and I hope you'll have a look. When I wrote the post, I was thinking along the lines of "lighthearted and goofy." Reading back over it, I can see how giving the same words a different inflection than I did in my head can make it sound harsh and mocking. I promise you, that is not at all what I intended, and I will try to word things more carefully in the future.
Hi Thomas,
Thank you for writing- & I posted again on your blog.
I am sorry if I sounded harsh- did it seem as if I was yelling? I wasn't- & you weren't mocking or disrespectful at all!
I just can't help wondering- when the Church is so disliked by some, generally speaking...
why?
Chesterton once said that angels are able to fly because they take themselves so lightly. I think the evangelical church takes itself so seriously, it comes across as arrogant. Perhaps it needs to learn how to lighten up.
Hi Lynn!
I confess that I don't know much about evangelicals- except of course that they are Christians, too. But I imagine that in all their seriousness, they're very sincere in what they do.
You're a Chestertonian! Are you going to the conference in a few weeks? I can't make it- but if you are have a wonderful time!
Hope you blog about it, too:)
I like your blog, but I think you're preaching to the choir.
