One of my greatest concerns has been about those who assume religious authority without training and preparation. My ex-brother-in-law was ordained via mail-order: he took a $50.00 correspondence course and became an “ordained minister.” I spent three years in seminary that was like a Marine boot camp: 48 of us entered and 3 years later 16 of us graduated. The seminary weeded out the crazies and the incompetents. I hated it back then; I celebrate it now.

Well, it's obvious that you took your education seriously- as difficult as it was.

A person can't enter any business or organization without being qualified- that said, everyone is welcome to attend the Catholic services, which are celebrated every day. Being a cradle Catholic, I did not receive Holy Communion (our Daily Bread) for twenty years, although I did attend the Mass- as my husband & I weren't originally married in the Catholic Church. Under those circumstances, it is not permitted- & it wasn't easy having to stay behind. When we were finally able to, our marriage was blessed by a priest- & now I go:)
